Project and Life Update Pt 2

Here is part two of the last blog post. Enjoy!

To continue off from the last blog post, I did some rebelling. Now, I’ve never rebelled in my life. I never hit my teenage rebellious faze, and I don’t think I ever will. I feel a pit form in my stomach when I come close to breaking a small rule in any situation. I may sound like a chaotic evil human with plans to take over the world in my cat pajamas with an army of dragons when I write stories. But, I’m more aligned with true neutral. I only do something when I feel like it would benefit me greatly. And taking over the world wouldn’t benefit me in any way. I have worlds to build, characters to develop, stories to plot! Taking over the world isn’t as fun as creating a million more.

So, with that background info out of the way. What did I do? Remember when I said that the diplomas had to be done in either colored pencil, watercolor, or watercolored pencil? Well… I had access to my preferred medium since I’m remote. So, I did the diplomas in ink and marker. I know, I know, I’m the ultimate rebel. Fear me, mortals! I didn’t want to draw the diplomas in watercolored pencil. I really wanted to do them in marker. And yes, I felt a pit form in my stomach, but the feeling of rebellion overcame the pit. I knew I would work faster if I did them in marker and ink, so I did.

As of right now, I was able to finish two diplomas. I asked my sister to ask her friend who is friends with one of my classmates to ask them what they wanted on their diploma. I invited one of the students who had a very specific vision of what they wanted into my art process. And I asked another student directly for more info on their diploma idea. I can’t show the two diplomas that I finished, because I’m not permitted to. I did post the first diploma on my Instagram. That diploma was for the person I invited into my art process. They said I could. But, after a few days, I was told to take it down by the teacher running Diploma Art. Your support to keep the diplomas a secret from both the student receiving them and the entire school. I wasn’t going to post the other two. I really liked it and I wanted to share that one. The other two I planed on posting later after graduation. I don’t think the teacher saw the diploma, and I never told them I drew it in marker. But, they knew it existed and told me to delete the post. So I did. Nothing else has happened after the. No shade to anyone involved. If this post sounds like that, I deeply apologize.

So, for those who saw the post and noticed it got removed, that’s why. But, it’s very likely no one noticed and completely forgot about the post. Which I’m silently hoping for. But, I still wanted to tell this story.

I like how the diplomas look so far, but I am concerned that my decisions will get me in trouble. One did, slightly. I didn’t enjoy that. However, I’m still drawing the last diploma in marker.

As for the comic, since senior projects are coming to a close, I’m only drawing eleven pages instead of eighteen as I planned. This image on the left is the last page. I will now ink and add speech bubbles. Color will only be on a few pages. This decision was a big one for me, but I need to present something to my school, so I had to make another cut. I can continue to draw this comic at any time after I graduate, which I plan to. The main goal of the project was to understand digital comics a bit more, and I think I did. I will continue to use this medium to draw comics in the future. It’s simple and clean. I hope I can finish this comic in time. Wish me luck.
