Stories

In this blog post I will talk about stories and why I chose to adapt this one. Enjoy!

It’s not a big secret that I like stories. I’m constantly thinking about plot devices, character relationships, panel angles, worlds, and what makes a good story to me. If a story has layers, lots of lore, room for question and inquiry, mystery, complicated perspectives, an interesting setting, characters you can relate or get attached to, I’ll eat it up. There are more components, but those are the big ones for me. I love being invested in a story. I like talking about stories with friends and family. When characters are flawed and complicated, I find them more memorable. Characters nowadays move the story forward. The plot can be the main force of movement in a story, but characters are what make a plot more memorable. A plot structure is the bare bones of a story, while the setting, characters, and many little things that aren’t the main plot that gives the story flesh and life. Making the plot unique. How many stories tell the tale of a chosen one saving the world? Or about a kid moving to a new town and starting school? Or a character has amnesia and is in search of finding who they are or were? A lot of stories do. And each writer does something to that plot point to make it more interesting/diffrent from anything else. This story that I’m adapting is no different.

At its core, this story is an amnesia plot. Or so it appears. That’s only one layer of this twisted tale of life and death, revenge, corporate greed, interdimensional travel, found family, forgiveness, murder, proving yourself, good Vs. evil, the past coming back to haunt you, ghosts, the living dead, living metal, sacrifice, kindness, etc. There is a lot to work with here, especially considering this tale is based on a horror indie game called FNAF. That, in itself, has a lot of layers and lore, to the point that it still has people trying to figure out the timeline. It’s deep, dark, and twisted, and it knows it. It’s a mystery in more ways than one. The Youtube show keeps a lot of the main themes, characters, settings, historical events, etc, and uses them in its own way. It’s not meant to be an exact carbon copy. They’ve created their own characters and settings to change things up. In turn, they’ve created something cool.

I’ve decided to adapt the first episode of the third season is because it intrigued me when I first watched it. The story in the last season took an unexpected turn in the last episode for a specific perspective. And in the next season, we were in a whole new environment with brand new characters, plot focus, dangers, and a new form of an old evil. Anything could happen. The first episode is slow-moving, but it introduces a new setting, characters, and questions. It’s a whole new direction for a story that’s been ongoing for approximately three years. This season reflects on the older seasons, giving old-time viewers nostalgia while allowing new viewers to enter the picture. It’s calm as of right now, but the plot will drag you through hell before you know it. Evil is just around the corner, watching, and waiting for the right moment to stick. Just what is their plan this season? God if I know. I the mystery of it all. That’s why I like this series.
